I work with individuals 18 years old and above who are struggling with depression or anxiety. I can support you to change behaviors to feel better, change patterns of thinking to improve your feelings, develop closer and more satisfying relationships, and much more. I use approaches that have been shown to be effective such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. As a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, I conducted research specific to the mental health of teenagers. I also have extensive experience working with LGBT individuals. Our first meeting would be a chance for me to really understand why you want therapy, for us to develop goals together (Note: My clients often begin developing goals by thinking about "If we are successful working together in therapy, how would you and your life be different?"), and for you to determine if therapy with me is a "good fit."

My therapeutic approach is relational, solution-focused, multiculturally informed, and evidence-based. I believe that cultivating a nurturing, nonjudgmental environment is the foundation for therapeutic outcomes. With a CBT- and DBT- informed approach, my clients utilize therapy to explore long-standing problems, navigate current stressors, and work on more effective ways to manage mental health symptoms. I strive to help my clients build a life that feels meaningful and rewarding, where they feel more at ease and more successful in various areas (and various stages). I specifically have experience working with teens and young adults with mood disorders, depression, anxiety, and self-harm. I offer client-centered treatment options that are determined collaboratively between us. I value all people and work to be culturally sensitive and aim for cultural humility when working with someone whose identity is different from my own. I will always seek out information on my own to fill in gaps of general knowledge, but will look to you to share your own personal experiences and beliefs that may or may not follow the general norms of any given cultural identity. My clients often struggle with depression and anxiety which have systemic and/or family-based roots, and my job is to facilitate a process to help you develop self-understanding and self-knowledge to make choices that are right for you.

As an athlete, you know that performance is as much about your internal state as it is about your training and skill. I help college athletes master the mental side of their sport by treating anxiety at its physiological roots. Using a combination of EMDR to clear performance blocks and in-depth nervous system education, we’ll move beyond the "grind" to build genuine resilience and confidence. Whether you are stepping onto the field or approaching the bar, my goal is to ensure your body and mind are synced, helping you transition from being overwhelmed by pressure to being fueled by it.
