Therapists for college students near Rice University
Lee Holliday, MSW, LCSW
College can be exciting, but it can also be a lot harder than people expect. You may be dealing with stress, anxiety, loneliness, relationship problems, family concerns, academic pressure, uncertainty about your future, or simply feeling overwhelmed and not quite like yourself. You don't have to wait until things become a crisis to talk with someone. Sometimes nothing is terribly wrong. You may just need someone to talk to who isn't a friend, parent, professor, or roommate—someone you can be completely honest with without worrying about being judged. I offer a warm, comfortable, and judgment-free space where you can talk openly about what's going on in your life. You don't need to know exactly what to say or even be sure that you "need counseling." We can start with what's bothering you and figure things out together. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with more than 20 years of experience, I understand that college is about much more than earning a degree. It's also a time of tremendous personal growth, change, and important life decisions. Sometimes having an experienced professional to talk with can make those changes feel a little less overwhelming and a lot more manageable. My approach is easy-going, practical, and down-to-earth. Counseling with me isn't about judging you or telling you how to live your life. We'll build on your strengths, work through what's getting in your way, and find realistic ways to help you feel more confident, hopeful, and in control of where you're headed. I also know that finding a therapist who has availability and fits your budget can be frustrating. I offer convenient telehealth appointments including daytime, evening, and Saturday availability. I accept students with insurance as well as private-pay students, with a special discounted rate available for college students who choose to pay privately. I also offer Therapeutic Chat Sessions and Mentoring for those one-time or "need some guidance" times in your life. Whether you're working through a difficult time, facing a life change, or simply need a safe person to talk things through with, you're welcome here. You don't have to have everything figured out before reaching out. Come as you are. We can start there.

I work best with college students who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of what comes next. Maybe you’re balancing school, relationships, family expectations, or figuring out who you are. Therapy can be a space to slow down, make sense of what you’re feeling, and better understand yourself along the way.

Jana Ramchander
I'm a licensed therapist who works with first-generation college students, children of immigrants, and culturally diverse young adults navigating the ups and downs of college life and early adulthood. As an immigrant myself, I truly get it—the push and pull between cultures, carrying your family's dreams on your shoulders, feeling proud of your background while also wanting to find your own way, and all the complicated feelings that come with it. Whether you're dealing with family expectations, figuring out your identity, managing academic stress, or just trying to adjust to everything that college throws at you, I bring both personal understanding and professional experience to our conversations. This is a warm, judgment-free space where you can talk about what's really going on, recognize the strengths you already have, and learn practical ways to handle whatever challenges come up.

I work closely with patients to develop treatment plans that align with their goals, values, and comfort level. By combining evidence-based practices with thoughtful discussion, I aim to support meaningful progress while maintaining safety, transparency, and respect. I also offer after-hours appointments to accommodate individuals with demanding schedules, irregular work shifts, or personal obligations.
Little Dove Psychology
College is a lot. If you are juggling classes, a social life, and a brain that will not cooperate, you do not need a six-month waitlist on top of it. Little Dove Psychology is a fully virtual practice for college students, based in Austin, Texas. Two things we do differently: if you have always wondered whether you have ADHD, we complete comprehensive virtual ADHD evaluations in under a month, with a written report you can use at school. And our individual therapy sessions fit an actual student schedule, with evening and weekend appointments, all from your dorm, apartment, or parked car between classes. We use approaches with real evidence behind them (CBT, ACT, DBT skills) for the things students actually deal with: anxiety, perfectionism, procrastination that is really something deeper, homesickness, relationships, and figuring out who you are. No judgment, no lectures, just practical help from someone who gets it. Your therapy does not have to end when the semester does. Through PSYPACT, we can see you across Texas and the other PSYPACT states, so if you head home for winter break, spend the summer out of state, or study away from campus, your sessions continue without starting over with someone new. We are in network with Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and Optum (UnitedHealthcare), and we provide superbills for other plans. Every student starts with a free 15-minute consultation, and most start the same week they reach out.

Feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, dating challenges, or life transitions? You don’t have to navigate it alone. I love working with college students seeking clarity, peace, and confidence—whether you're adjusting to campus life, preparing for the future, or feeling emotionally stuck and alone. Originally from Houston, Texas and now based in Atlanta, I’ve been fully licensed since 2018 and practicing since 2012. My early work focused on adolescents and families affected by substance use, but I found my sweet spot working with young adults navigating anxiety, relationship stress, and identity development. Whether you're facing college anxiety, academic pressure, or relationship concerns, I offer a warm, nonjudgmental space where you can process emotions and grow at your own pace. Therapy with me is relaxed, empowering, and rooted in real-life support. Healing isn’t instant, but it starts with being open, heard, and supported. Let’s take that first step—together.

Inner Archive Therapy
I provide meaning-centered counseling for individuals navigating trauma, chronic pain, and long-standing stress. My practice is grounded in the belief that experiences are held not only as memories or thoughts, but also within the nervous system as patterns shaped over time. When appropriate, I integrate body-based tools and insight-oriented approaches, supporting students who may understand their experiences intellectually yet continue to feel trapped in how their body responds. Work is paced, collaborative, and attentive to context, readiness, and lived experience rather than quick symptom fixes. My services are offered through in-person sessions in Frisco, Texas, and via secure telehealth across the state. My private practice is self-pay. For those wanting to use insurance, I also see clients through Legacy Trails Therapy, where select plans are accepted under supervisory billing. This can be discussed during consultation.

Still Mind Counseling Services
Do you feel like you're carrying the weight of the world, but no one can see it? Do you feel unheard in your relationship? It can be hard to put emotions into words, especially when feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or stuck in patterns that seem impossible to break. The desire for peace is there, but knowing where to begin can feel daunting. Relationship conflict, whether with a partner, spouse, or loved one, can leave you feeling misunderstood, exhausted, and disconnected. Do the same arguments resurface? Does it sometimes feel like no matter how much you try, nothing changes? Supporting individuals struggling with mental health is a passion of mine. From the very first session, I aim to create a sense of safety and ease for my clients. With an empathetic approach and mindfulness, therapy helps you slow down, breathe, and begin untangling the thoughts you may have been avoiding. Therapy with me isn’t just about talking. It’s about creating space for stillness and self discovery, learning tools to cope, and finding the strength to move forward. If you’re feeling lost or weighed down, this is a place where healing begins. Let’s embark on a journey together, one where healing, growth, and meaningful relationships become possible.

You may be seeking therapy after a breakup, sudden loss, or overwhelming life experience — especially if you’re someone who is thoughtful, self-aware, and used to functioning at a high level. You understand your anxiety, trauma, or relationship patterns intellectually, yet when something triggers you, your body and emotions react in ways you can’t think you're way out of. Insight alone hasn’t brought the relief you expected. You need a different kind of support. I'll help you find change beyond talk therapy. We can work together in weekly sessions or extended EMDR intensives for accelerated healing-especially when weekly therapy feels too slow or life doesn’t allow for a long-term pace. EMDR helps the brain & body process what’s still “stuck,” so triggers lose their intensity and old patterns no longer run the show. If you’re ready to explore whether therapy with me or an EMDR intensive can help you feel real relief, schedule a free consultation call. I typically respond within 1 business day & we’ll start by talking through what you’re hoping for and whether this feels like a good fit. In-person sessions in East Dallas & online therapy in TX, FL, LA, and VA.
Emerson Counseing & Wellness Group
We all carry pieces of our past into the present, our experiences, relationships, losses, strengths, culture, and the ways we learned to cope along the way. I believe we are the sum of those parts, and counseling gives us a place to understand how they shaped who we are today and decide what we want to carry forward. I'm Arcelia Emerson LPC-Associate Supervised by April West LPC-S. My path to becoming a counselor is personal. I’ve been a client myself, and my experience with EMDR showed me how powerful counseling can be. It also taught me what it feels like to sit on the other side of the room, share your story, and do the hard work of healing. That experience continues to shape how I work with my clients, with compassion, curiosity, and authenticity. I see counseling as a partnership. You are the expert on your life, and we work together to understand patterns, build on your strengths, and find tools that make sense for you. My approach is trauma-informed and individualized because I don’t believe counseling should be one-size-fits-all. I draw from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, along with mindfulness, breathwork, grounding, yoga, Sandtray, and creative approaches. Together, we look at both the mind and body and find what works best for you. I work with all ages experiencing trauma, anxiety, depression, ADHD, grief, relationship concerns, life changes, or simply feeling stuck. Your culture, family, identity, values, and experiences are all part of your story and are welcome in the counseling room. My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming. You don’t have to know exactly what you need before you begin. We can figure that out together.

Having the ability to express yourself freely and without judgment is an essential part of therapy, and the relationship between client and therapist is a key aspect of this. As a social worker, I recognize the importance of human relationships and the environment we live in, as well as the negative impact they have on our ability to function. I utilize a person-centered, strengths based approach to understand individuals as a whole, and work collaboratively with clients to address their challenges and reach their goals. I provide individual therapy focusing on anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. Identifying as a nonbinary lesbian myself, I understand how difficult it is to find a competent provider with whom you feel safe and understood. If you’ve made it this far, I encourage you to take the next step and reach out so we can see if this would be a good fit for both of us.

The guys who are the best fit for my practice are college students who look like they have it all together on campus, but are secretly exhausted by unwanted sexual behavior, porn compulsion, or trying to break a cycle they can't kick on their own. You might be grinding through classes, ministry, or student leadership while carrying a massive load of shame and isolation behind closed doors. You're tired of white-knuckling it, turning to secret habits when stress hits, and feeling stuck in the same frustrating loops. If you are ready for a real, judgment-free space to drop the mask, figure out what's driving the behavior, and get your life back, you're in the right place.
