*Due to the current Covid-19 crises, my practice is set up to see patients thru video conference calling which is HIPPA compliant for privacy. I believe that individual therapy is the bedrock of mental health change especially for personal issues such as depression, anxiety, relationship self esteem and emotional problems of living. Counseling with your therapist needs to be collaborative where clients sort out thoughts and feelings in order to get a better understanding of who they are. Counseling is completely different from person to person. One client may want more advice or suggestions. Another might want mostly to vent and to be heard. Still others may need to be challenged or confronted. In general, though, most therapists believe that counseling helps us understand thoughts and feelings about ourselves that we have not previously fully recognized. Sigmund Freud referred to this process as making that which is unconscious conscious. I trust that clients know deep down what should be talked about in therapy and that they mostly need help knowing how to access these thoughts and feelings in order to realize what it is they want and need from others and their lives. My approach is eclectic or integrative, but I use many behavioral and cognitive-behavioral approaches in my work. I am particularly interested in evidenced-based and best practices approaches to treatment and so I continually challenge myself to learn newly refined techniques and approaches and provide each patient with the best of my learning over 30 years of practice in multiple settings. I am humanistic and client centered as well and and have found that it often helps patients to know that their therapist is a regular, genuine and authentic individual who is dedicated to my profession and feels that much can be learned from the relationship of therapy. Many clients come to a therapist’s office because they are struggling in their relationships. Paying attention to how your relationship develops in the office can help you understand how really important social interactions in your life outside of the therapeutic relationship actually work.

Healing isn’t easy & taking the first step of seeking a therapist takes a lot of courage. Healing involves being patient & kind with yourself, along with stepping out of your comfort zone in order to talk about tough things so you can grow. I believe we all have the potential to live a life that brings us joy and satisfaction. I believe we all have an inner strength that allows us to change and grow, no matter how adverse the circumstances that brought us here. A therapeutic relationship based on trust, honesty, and non-judgment can bring that strength to its rightful place in our lives. I take a holistic and trauma-informed approach to therapy. I recognize that there are generational, environmental, social, political, and cultural factors that impact our day-to-day lives and decisions and believe it's important to consider these factors when learning about my clients and their experiences. When we begin to understand ourselves and our ways of thinking and acting as a part of a larger whole, we can begin to improve the quality of our lives and our relationships, especially our relationship to the self. I help clients create real change through cultivating insight around their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors in the context of their life, relationships, and the world around them. I also help clients develop healthier, more effective coping skills. Together, we'll work to deepen your self awareness and build on what is good, strong, and true about yourself.

Hello! I'm so happy you stopped by! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Pennsylvania. I have 13 years of experience in the mental health field and I have also recently completed doctoral training in clinical psychology. I specialize in psychodynamic therapy and have a great deal of experience in working with people with eating disorders, anxiety, depression, relationship problems and concerns and personality concerns/disorders. I provide a non-judgmental and safe space for clients to open up about their struggles and painful experiences. I follow the client's lead as we work together to build an understanding of what is fueling their current difficulties. As we work together, client's develop a complex understanding of their lives and what has led to their current struggles. This opens up the possibility for new emotional and relationship experiences. My focus is on helping clients achieve long term and lasting change. Clients can expect to feel heard and accepted. With an environment of warmth, humor and curiosity, clients feel open to discuss their painful experiences and to open up emotionally in a way that they may not feel able to in most spaces in their lives. We will work together to build a deeper understanding of your experience, which will lead to long term and lasting change in emotions, work and relationships.

Psychiatrist
Online
Boston, MA

I am a Harvard-trained, Harvard-affiliated, board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. I strongly believe that the best psychiatric care is centered on the whole person, not just on a diagnosis or a specific medication. I provide weekly therapy and work with patients to determine if medications can be of help. I do not believe that everyone needs a medication, but they can be useful in treating particular psychiatric symptoms; I will work with you in order to find the best treatment modality that meets your goals and needs. My training in psychotherapy includes psychodynamic psychotherapy, play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), Exposure/Response Prevention (Ex/RP) and Prolonged Exposure (PE). I provide psychotherapy for children, adolescents, adults, couples and families. In order to offer comprehensive treatment, I do not accept insurance in my private practice. I am currently conducting sessions via telemedicine only. Please feel free to send me an email to set up a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation so I can answer any questions and see if I can be of help.

Clinical Social Work/Therapist
In-Person & Online
Philadelphia, PA

Hi, I'm Matt Sosnowsky, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) based in Center City Philadelphia. I work with adults in their 20s, 30s, and 40s — including a lot of people who are navigating the transition from college into "real life," or who are a few years in and finding that things feel harder than they expected. My clients are often high-functioning: they're doing well by most measures, but something underneath is off — anxiety that won't quit, a low-grade depression they can't shake, relationships that aren't working, or a nagging sense that they're not living the life they actually want. That's exactly the kind of work I find most meaningful. I'm particularly interested in men's mental health, and I work with a lot of guys who have never tried therapy before and aren't sure what to expect. My approach tends to be direct, collaborative, and grounded — less abstract exploration, more working through what's actually going on and figuring out what to do about it. Sessions are available in-person near Rittenhouse Square and via telehealth across PA, NJ, MD, VA, and DC. I'm an out-of-network provider, and I'm happy to help you understand what that means for your insurance.
